What's Your Website, or Don't You Have One?

Authors need some type of home base for readers to refer to. Perhaps, if they publish through Amazon, they consider the Amazon Central Author Page sufficient, but most authors strive for something reflecting their own tastes.

These days Blogger or Wordpress blogs, along with traditional websites can be used with success. Lately, since my new release of A Perfect Angel, the sequel to Her Handyman,  I've been promoting my contemporary romances a/k/a chick lits, I set up a website specifically for that type of genre. If you 'd like to take a look, here's the link:

What about you? Do you use a blog for a website or use the traditional method? Please say which one, and leave your website url, so we can take a look at it.

    1. Darcy, I like your website a lot. It looks like a traditional website, but has the ability for feedback from those who visit. Great job? It looks like you bought the domain name, since it's a dot com and doesn't have wordpress in the title.

  3. Great idea, Wendy, to use two different types of websites to reflect the differences in what you're offering.

  5. Hi Morgan--
I have a traditional website done with Dreamweaver. My son designed it for me and taught me how to do updates on it. I also have a character blog done with Blogger.

    1. Lois, I've always liked your blog. I just checked out your website, and it's totally cute, as are the book covers! And, I see there's room to add more books there, so keep writing!

  6. I have a website that includes a link to my blog. A friend who is both a writer and a graphic designer (her profession) created the site for me, and makes changes as I request. She makes it easy. I use blogger, which I originally set up my self before linking it to the website. www.susanoleksiw.com

  7. I have a website at http://www.marjamcgraw.com/ and a blog at http://marjamcgraw.blogspot.com/ . I decided to keep the two separate. I've been blogging since 2010, but when I changed sites I lost my archives.

    1. I like the way you mention your new series in the middle of the page, where it's very noticeable. It piqued my interest!
Great layout and very authorly looking!

  9. Thanks for the chance to share our websites, Morgan. I had my website designed by Novel Website Design...they're fantastic to work with and really listen to you. I need to be more active on my blog (link to it thru my website) -- too easy to get caught up in Twitter and Facebook. My website is www.libbymckinmer.com

  10. I have two sites right now and I'm able to manage both of them. The first is my main site, http://www.maggietoussaint.com and the second is my pen name site, http://www.rigelcarson.com. I adopted a pen name for my science fiction series.

  12. Hi, Morgan. I had a website on my old computer created with Microsoft Front Page, which Microsoft stopped supporting. I switched to Microsoft Expressions Web4, which is free, and actually copied and pasted my pages from the old website. It's so easy that I can make changes in a split second, which I do all the time. My blog on Goodreads consists of recycled blogs I do for others. That's very convenient and easy, and I can add a blog any time I want without the pressure of being on a schedule. I've never had a designated blog. My website is http://PollyIyer.com Thanks for giving us the opportunity to promote ourselves.

  14. My main website is http://annherrickauthor.com. But there are changes coming up that may make it difficult to use, so I'm also relying on my website at Authors Den:

    1. Ann, I keep forgetting about my stuff at Authors Den and haven't updated anything there for a while. I really should take the time! I like your regular website better with the girl flipping the book pages, so I hope the changes won't take too long for you. In the meantime, at least you have the Authors Den to tide you over.

  15. I have a website at www.elizabethdelisi.com and a blog at elizabethdelisi.blogspot.com . I've kept them separate, but the blog sees more traffic, I think.

  16. I love the pretty blue and green on your website, Elizabeth. Very lovely. I suspect many blogs get more traffic than websites, because they're more interactive. Also, I know I mention my blog more than my website, since I'm always posting new stuff on my blog, not so on my website.
